Man and van small removals job

When a full house crew is overkill

Most man-and-van jobs we quote are a sofa and mattress, a studio clear-out, or a few white goods between two London postcodes. You still get a fixed price, goods-in-transit cover, and the same crew standards as a three-bed house move. You just do not pay for bodies you do not need.

Send photos of the load, both postcodes, and floor/access notes. We price on volume, carry distance, stairs or lift, parking, and road time. Congestion Charge and similar tolls go in the quote when the route hits them, not as a surprise on the invoice.

  • Single items, part-loads, studios and small flats
  • Half-day or full-day crew time
  • Stairs, lifts and parking written into the price
  • Optional licensed disposal if you are tipping as well as moving

Jobs that fit man and van

If your list looks like this, start here. If you are filling a Luton and need packing, ask for a full home-removal quote instead.

Furniture and white goods

Sofa, bed frame, wardrobe, fridge, washing machine. We wrap contact points, protect door frames on tight carries, and place items where you want them at the other end.

  • Two addresses or collect-and-deliver from a shop
  • Dismantle/reassemble on request for flat-pack and bed frames
  • Ground-floor jobs often finish in a morning

Student and studio moves

Term dates bunch up. We book early for September and January peaks across halls, HMOs and one-beds. Tell us about lift bookings and porter rules before the day.

  • Compact loads, often one van
  • Shared houses: we only take your room unless you say otherwise
  • Can combine with a tip run for broken furniture

Wait-and-load

You stay with the van while we load, tip, or drop. Useful for eBay collections, charity drops, and tip runs where you want eyes on every item.

  • Priced on hours plus mileage
  • Licensed waste carrier for disposal legs
  • Photos help us bring the right van size

Part house or garage clear

One room, loft overflow, or a garage clear without booking a full clearance team. We load what you point at and leave the rest.

  • Keep or tip: say which items are waste
  • Works alongside a later full house move
  • Same insurance as larger jobs

What changes the price

We fix the number once these are clear. If something changes on the day (extra sofa, no lift after all), we agree a change before we lift it.

Distance and route

SW6 to N1 is a different job from SW6 to Manchester. Mileage, traffic windows and any tolls sit in the quote.

Time on site

Third-floor walk-ups, long corridor carries, and no parking bay eat the clock. Half-day covers many local drops; full-day suits bigger loads or longer routes.

Crew size

Driver plus one helper handles most sofas and studios. Pianos, stone tops and awkward safes may need a third person. Ask early.

Disposal

As licensed waste carriers we can tip items you do not want at the new place. Disposal fees and tip time are line items, not a vague “extra”.

How to get a useful quote

List or photograph the load

Item count beats “a few bits”. Photos of sofas and access (stairs, hallway width) stop underquoting.

Both postcodes and floors

Pickup and drop-off, floor numbers, lift or stairs, and whether parking is on the street or in a bay.

Date window

Firm date or a range. Peak weekends and month-end fill first in London.

Fixed price back

You get a number that includes the route and access you described. Accept it, and that is what you pay.

Testimonials

What customers say about us

Excellent 4.9 out of 5 based on 310 reviews Trustpilot

pam mcguinness

We were screwed over by a different company and reached out to RP removals. They were fabulous. They picked our furniture after we were left in the lurch and were exceptionally professional and courteous.

Toby

Just moved with RP. Good price, not the cheapest we found but toward the lower end. Team were very, very helpful in the office prior to moving day. Vlad and the team packed without issue.

Maggie Stanforth

Nothing was too much trouble for them. They were efficient, polite and respectful. They went the extra mile to ensure furniture was where we wanted it. We would thoroughly recommend them.

Man and van FAQs

Is man and van cheaper than a full removal?

For a sofa, a few boxes, or a studio, yes. Once you are filling the van and want packing or furniture dismantle across several rooms, a home-removal quote usually works out cleaner.

Can you move a piano or safe?

Often yes, with the right crew and kit. Tell us upright or baby grand, weight if you know it, and the stair situation. We will say if it needs a specialist piano firm instead of forcing it.

Do you cover student moves in London?

Yes. Halls, studios and shared houses across Greater London, plus university towns on routes we already run. Book early for September.

What if parking is terrible?

Tell us before we quote. Permit streets, loading bays and “nowhere near the door” carries change time on site. We price that in rather than arguing on the kerb.

Are you insured for small jobs?

Yes. Same goods-in-transit cover approach as larger moves. The job size does not drop the standard.
