Home removals packing and loading

Moves that stay organised from quote to unloading

Whether you’re moving a studio flat or a full family home, the details matter: where you’re leaving from, where you’re going, how much there is to move, and anything that affects access (stairs, parking, narrow hallways, lift bookings).

We ask for that upfront so the quote reflects the actual job, not surprise add-ons on the day because someone forgot the third-floor walk-up.

Types of home moves we handle

Every move is different. These are the jobs we quote for most often. If yours isn’t listed, send the details anyway.

Studio and one-bed flats

Compact moves where access and timing often matter more than volume. We plan around lift slots, parking restrictions and tight stairwells.

  • Ideal for first-time movers and city-centre flats
  • Single van usually sufficient
  • Half-day or full-day depending on distance

Two and three-bed homes

The most common enquiry we get. Furniture, white goods, boxes and personal items, quoted on property size and what you’re taking.

  • Full or partial packing available
  • Disassembly and reassembly of standard furniture
  • Multiple trips if needed for larger loads

Family homes (4+ beds)

Larger moves need more planning. We’ll ask about room count, garage or loft contents, and whether you want us to pack or you’ll handle it yourself.

  • Full-day or multi-day jobs
  • Extra crew when the load warrants it
  • Clear breakdown before you confirm

Single-item and partial moves

Not every job is a full house move. Sofas, wardrobes, appliances, or a few boxes between addresses get quoted separately.

  • One item or a small load
  • Same careful handling as a full move
  • Often booked at short notice

How a home removal works

Three steps from enquiry to confirmed move day, without endless back-and-forth.

Send move details

Tell us where you’re moving from and to, property size, preferred date, and anything that affects access (stairs, parking, narrow doors, lift bookings). Photos help if the job is unusual.

We quote clearly

We review what you sent and reply with a price for that specific job. If something’s unclear, we’ll ask before quoting, not after you’ve booked.

Confirm and move

Once you’re happy with the quote, we lock in the date and get the team ready. On the day, we load, transport and place items where you want them.

What’s included in a standard move

Every quote is tailored. This is what customers typically get when they book home removals with us.

Loading and transport

Your belongings loaded securely, transported to the new address, and unloaded. Van size matched to the job.

Furniture placement

Items placed in the rooms you specify, not dumped in the hallway. We ask on the day where things should go.

Basic disassembly

Standard beds, tables and flat-pack furniture taken apart for transit and reassembled at the other end where needed.

Protective materials

Blankets and straps to protect furniture during the move. Packing materials available if you add packing support.

Packing support for home removals

Packing support when you need it

Not everyone has time to pack before move day. We can provide extra hands to wrap, box and label your belongings so everything is ready when the van arrives.

Mention packing when you enquire and we’ll include it in the quote: a full pack, or help with specific rooms like the kitchen or fragile items.

  • Full-property or partial packing
  • Fragile items wrapped and labelled
  • Boxes and materials supplied if needed
  • Can be booked alongside the move or as a separate visit

What to expect on move day

A rough timeline for how the day usually runs. Times vary by job size and distance.

Before the team arrives

Clear access where possible: hallways, parking bays, lift bookings if applicable. Have boxes and personal items ready if you’re packing yourself. Keep valuables and documents with you.

Loading at your old address

The team works room by room, protecting furniture and loading the van efficiently. Larger items go in first. If anything needs disassembly, we handle it on site.

Transit and unloading

Direct transit to your new address. On arrival, we unload into the rooms you specify. Beds and flat-pack furniture reassembled where agreed in the quote.

After the move

Walk through with the team to confirm everything is where you want it. If you booked waste clearance for items left behind, that can be handled separately or on the same day.

“We were screwed over by a different company and reached out to RP removals. They were fabulous. They picked our furniture after we were left in the lurch and were exceptionally professional and courteous.”

Home removals: common questions

Answers to what customers ask before they book.

Home removals packing and loading
How far in advance should I book?

As early as you can, especially for month-end and summer dates. We do take last-minute enquiries when capacity allows. Send your date and we’ll confirm availability.

Do you move on weekends?

Yes, weekend moves are available. Mention your preferred date in the enquiry and we’ll confirm whether that slot is open.

What affects the price of a move?

Property size, distance between addresses, access (stairs, parking, lift), volume of belongings, and whether you need packing. We quote on the details you send, not a generic estimate.

Can you move just one or two items?

Yes. Single-item and partial moves are quoted separately. Select “Single Item Move” in the quote form or describe what you need in the message field.

Do I need to empty drawers and wardrobes?

Soft items can often stay in drawers. We’ll advise when you enquire if anything needs emptying for safety or weight reasons.
